Local station 118radio is offering free advertising for businesses located around 118 Avenue. Community leagues and non-profit organizations will also be promoted for free. Through this initiative, they aim to promote local artists and community leaders, and provide more support to the area .
“We are doing this because it’s the right thing to do for the community we live in,” says Gord Bates at 118radio. “We have concluded that money will not be our motivator or distract us from doing what is right. We believe that if we do things right, business success will follow.”
118radio specifically focuses on the 118 Avenue corridor and surrounding areas. The station plays 24 hours a day all week long. They are committed to broadcasting information about entertainment, arts, and business in this area.
The station acknowledges that most businesses along 118 Avenue must be frugal when it comes to ads, because they lack big advertising budgets. 118radio is meeting the needs of the community by offering their services for free and helping create local ads and promotions.
The business success will rely on financial donations, “based on the community value we deliver,” says Bates. If anyone — business, organization, or individual person — feels that 118radio has provided value and is worthy of support, they will accept donations of any amount.
“We want to be a radio station that business and organizations play in their establishments, and people listen at home or on their phone while travelling,” concludes Bates.
