A message from your Edmonton Griesbach MP and Edmonton Centre NDP Candidate

BLAKE DESJARLAIS AND TRISHA ESTABROOKS
During these challenging times, we know you’re worried about the impact of U.S. tariffs. Edmonton Griesbach MP, Blake Desjarlais, and Edmonton Centre NDP Candidate, Trisha Estabrooks, want you to know that the NDP supports dollar-for-dollar retaliatory tariffs, cutting off the supply of critical minerals to the U.S. and increasing trade between provinces. But these countermeasures only address half the problem. The NDP are calling for support for workers impacted by tariffs and countermeasures. And in the longer term, a Build Canadian, Buy Canadian plan that creates jobs in Canada.
If there’s one thing you need to know about New Democrat MPs it is that we work hard and fight for the people we represent. In the fall of 2021, MP Blake Desjarlais was elected as the MP for Edmonton Griesbach. This next election, we are hoping to elect former school board Trustee and journalist, Trisha Estabrooks, to stand up for Edmonton Centre in Ottawa.
We expect a federal election this spring and, as with many elections, there is a lot at stake. Both Blake and Trisha have heard from voters at the doors. Besides the top concern regarding the impact of US tariffs, we have also heard concerns about the affordability crisis.
We get it. The cost of everything is going up and as NDP MPs, we will continue to fight to prioritize the needs of people over the profits of corporations. Canadians are struggling with rising rent and grocery costs. Our solutions to making life more affordable include cutting the GST on essentials, stopping price gouging, and restoring fairness to our tax system so big corporations pay their fair share.
Housing affordability continues to squeeze many Edmonton Centre and Edmonton Griesbach residents. The reality is we are facing an affordable housing crisis due to decades of Liberal inaction on building affordable, non-market housing and Conservative cuts to funding for affordable housing. Housing is a human right and as your NDP MPs, we will fight for Canadians’ rights to adequate, affordable and accessible homes.
You’ve also told us at the doors that you want your representatives to defend our healthcare system. The NDP’s national pharmacare and dental care programs are making a difference in the lives of millions of Canadians. But we cannot rest. Canadians are concerned a Pollievre government will further privatize our health care system, making it more difficult to access free health care.
This upcoming election, the NDP are the progressive choice for Edmonton voters.

“Why do I hear banjo music from deliverance playing when I hear the Mega people speak in Alberta?
Answer: the level of support for Putin, Trump and Pollievre in Alberta means that quite possibly people there are stupid.
